Happy Summer from KHAC!
What's happening at the Craft House
Due to some recent issues, Kingsland House of Arts and Crafts would like to publicly state for the record that it is not and was not affliated with the Kingsland AquaBoom craft show or music festival of 2016. Please see the official letter here.
Happy Independence Day everyone! We had a great time participating in the AquaBoom parade. It's wonderful to see and feel all the patriotic pride in our community.
Next we'll have our annual Crafty Christmas in July! This is a workshop featuring several teachers all teaching Christmas-themed crafts. There will be a station to make fabric snowmen and another to paint ceramic ornaments, to name a couple. See more details on our Events page.
Rain! So much rain! None of you have floated away, have you? We're still here! Yay! So, what can we do with rivers rising and mud up to our knees? We can craft! To help you out with this, KHAC is hosting 2 NEW crafting classes!
Now that the kids are out of school and summer has officially started (except not really, because of the rain), you might be finding it a bit harder to get everything done in all the chaos. Well, we can help with that with our latest crafting class: Focus/Goal boards! In this class you will learn how to make a physical representation of the things you want to accomplish so they don't fall prey to out of sight, out of mind. This will also make it easier to keep focused. Check out the details on the Events page.
Our 2nd class in June is Conch Shell Twirlers. These bright and fun outdoor decor items are easy to make and can be customized to your taste. See the details on the Events page.
This year is zooming by so fast. It's already May, and with that comes many good things like Mother's Day, wild flowers, Cinco De Mayo, and school graduation. We have lots of new items at the House that would make wonderful gifts for any special occasion. The photos will be updated soon, but you can come in and see what we have anytime!
For crafting classes this month, we have a fun painting class with Linda and an outdoor decor class with Toni. See the details here.
For all the members, our potluck picnic is this month so come join us! If you are not a member yet, sign up and get in on the fun! You can pick up an application in the Craft House or click here to download one.
Spring is here! The wild flowers are in bloom, the craft shows are starting, and the weather is complete unpredictable! Here at KHAC we held our annual Spring Craft Show on the 1st weekend of April. Thank you to those who came out and supported us and the vendors. We are working on adding some new things to the show in fall as well as next year. Keeping checking in with us to get the latest announcements both here and on Facebook.
We are continuing to hold twice-monthly crafting classes. Cindy hosted a new one on making windchimes from alluminum bottles.
On the 23rd, Jennifer L., who owns The Land of Milk and Honey, will be hosting a hands-on demonstration on how to make goat's milk soaps. All participants will receive a finished sample at the end of the class. There may even be a live baby goat as well!
For more details and to see what other classes we have, check out the Events page.
In other news, some of our members had booths at the 33rd Annual Bluebonnet Festival in Burnet Texas! Some of the those include Jenn's Jewelry, Marie's Passions, and The Land of Milk and Honey. We are so happy to see our members spreading their creativity and art in the Texas Hill Country.
Spring is starting to arrive here in Texas. The wildflowers are beginning to emerge, the days are warms, and the weather is either beautiful or stormy. We have our spring display set up now at the Craft House. Stop on by and check it out. We are also preparing for our Spring Craft Show which takes place every year on the first weekend in April. We are accepting vendor applications at this time. Hand-made crafts will have priority, though we are accepting a limited amount of direct sales at this time. For more details, visit our Events page.
We are also hosting a Make Your own Wind Sock class this month. Using fabric and ribbons and few other things, Nina will teach you how to make a fabulous custom wind sock to hang on your porch.
